Zuma likes to think she's hunting cats that are up on the garage roof every day.

But, other than that, nope.

Wow! That's impressive! I love the blue whippets too.
What exactly happens in a hunt? Do he dogs catch the rabbits or do they retrieve the rabbits after the rabbits are shot? Or what? I am not familiar with the exercise.

Hi Kim the whippets learn to mark a warren (tell you if rabbits are in the warren) you then put purse nets over the holes & enter a ferret the ferret chases the rabbits out of the warren & in to the nets the whippets hold the netted rabbits until i get there if any holes are not netted or a rabbit throws the net off the whippets chase catch & retrieve the rabbits to me

When my whippets catch a rabbit they are allowed to hold it until Kent arrives. He takes it from them and eats it head first, usually the feet go down too.

Are those feet from cotton tail rabbit or a jack rabbit?

We don't do any organized live hunting, though the hounds will organize their own if there happens to be a furry critter around.
All the rabbits around here are smart enough to stay in our front yard...though I know eventually they'll stumble across one when we take them to run on the big field. I just hope the rabbit is having a fast day!
I'd LOVE to see my hounds coursing live game...though I'm not sure I'll ever have the opportunity to have my dogs participate in an area I'd feel safe letting them do so. Never say never though

Aren't you ever worried about the rabbit having parasites or that it is diseased? Talk about the ultimate BARF diet!

7-10 days after the dogs eat extra fresh rabbit they get a wormer. Tapeworm is almost a gauranteed side-effect.

Drontal is what I use too. I know people that give it regularly and I should do that too.
Is that a fox in the last picture? What kind? How was it taken? When my whippet Hamlet was a youngster he loved chasing fox. We would visit dens in the spring that could be found in the trees just off an open field, eventually one would be seen and would lead Hamlet off on the chase. I'd sit in the middle of the field with my binoculars and soon enough(10-20 minutes) Hamlet would reappear in the field, returning to where he last saw the fox and he knew he'd find me. We'd sit in the field and within a few minutes I'd spot the fox sitting off in the tree line watching us. I'm sure the fox had led Hamlet away and returned within minutes but it took Hamlet a longer time to figure out he had been tricked. My boy is old, nearly deaf and no longer chases anything. But I'll always remember the countless hours I spent in the field, just he and I doing what he loved to do.
