Well, for the first time in three months Gris - Gris has eaten her food two times a day for a week. Usually its once a day every other day. Her new stuff is the Solid Gold brand, red label. The one with chicken, livers and carrots. She also loves Evanger brand. This food is so cool. It has whole chicken wings, or thighs. The bone is still in. It is pressure cooked, so it's soft. I've never seen her so happy. She ate all the food even some dry food mixed in. It has been a month since she has eaten dry food. I heat the mixture in the microwave about forty seconds and she gobbles up. i figured that I should let everyone know, as only other sighthound owners can understand the pain of having to throw away endless cans of food in a fruitless search to find the one that their dog will eat more then a bite, or two of.

I understand a picky eater. Lance has been picky for a long time. There were times he would not eat either.
Now that I cook and make their food he eats like he has never seen food before. He will even eat some dry
if I mix the organic yogurt in it.
So glad to hear Gris is eating.

I cook for them from time to time and I would love to do it more, but life's been crazy lately. Lopez is also way to fat. She gains weight just looking at people food. When one of them gets the runs and I make chicken and rice, they go days of refusing food before going back to dog food. When I get out of school I may try cooking more for them. Do you use a vitamin supplement when you cook for them?

The vet hospital I work at uses this horrible stuff called Braunschweiger to distract dogs during exams. It's a terrible bacon and liver paste, dogs love the stuff. I figured out that my picky eater gets MUCH less picky if I put a little spoonful of that in with his kibble and microwave it for about 15 seconds. Then he gobbles it down and spends 10 minutes licking the bowl hoping for seconds!!!!!!!!!!

Too me, braunschweiger sounds really gross! But I think my mutts would LOVE it!!

Interesting, I wonder if that would carry the powdered supplements. I used to use green tripe alot, but she went off of it, when my vet gave a bunch of holistic supplements. If I could mask them with that. Meall time could go back to normal.

Yeah, I think it's disgusting.... but it's actually a human food. It's at the grocery store by the lunch meat and sausage. It gets Zipp to eat his dinner, and it's the only way I can pill Guinness. That rotten Guinness started eating the pill pockets and cheese but spitting out the pills. A little glob of Braunschweiger and the pills go right down. Nasty stuff- have to use dish soap to get it off my fingers!!

Pill pockets are a rip. I haven't got anyone to fall for them yet. Maybe if I was pilling a bigger animal, they would gulp it. The cat pill pockets are a joke. I wonder if they tested them on real cats. Force has been my only way of pilling a cat so far. I used to mix my horse's medicine with peanut butter and either sandwich it between a couple of cookies, or hollow out a carrot with a drill and put it in there. I learned that from a zoo keeper.
