I haven't decided if this is puppy related, but Carson sits alot! Both he and Greyson will sit on command, as did my greyhounds, but Carson will sit out in the yard and watch the goings on in the neighborhood. One day, he sat and watched our neighbor put outr fertilizer with his spreader. It was like watching a very slow motion tennis match, his head going left to right and back again as our neightbor walked his yard.

I downloaded some pictures from our last snow, and found one of Carson sitting in the snow! What a wacky little whippet!Click to view attachment

Matilda sits alot! Sometimes, I just walk into a room and there she is...sitting. Charlie always sits when he comes in from outside...but that is just because he wants a treat!

Wow, how spoiled you are to have a Whippie that sits. I would kill for just five minutes of sitting. However, when mine does sit, she is usually begging and will scoot slowly backwards on her tail. She has worn a bald spot on her tail from this! youcrazy.gif
zepher dude
zepher will sit for hours on his dogscraper when the weather is nice. i watched him one day out the kitchen window he followed somthing in the sky for a long long time, i thought it was a bird(he likes birds)then i heard it he was watching an airplane,he watched it untell it landed at our airport on the other end of town, then saw me watching him and got down and came in the house.

Since we taught them how to sit... it seems they do it all the time! We'll be making dinner and there they are, watching, sitting, waiting- for food to fall on the floor probably! Lol But when it is nice out they will both just sit on our front yard, and watch life go by. It is so adorable!

Well, I must apologize for the quality of the picture I loaded. I promise, I had cropped it and thought I had a close-up of Carson sitting in the snow. This one looks like he's in stealth mode, he's blending in so well. (he's just to the right of the telephone pole) Guess I posted the wrong one or something! Anyway, I'm glad to know he's not the only one who sits alot. Although I do think it odd to sit in the snow! youcrazy.gif

Lance loves to sit outside in the yard. And he will sit on the loveseat in the house. But other than that, he lays down when ever he can.
Zorro's Mom
That's hiliarious! lmao.gif It's because he forgets he's a dog and thinks he's a person! Zorro sits - paw elevated - only when he wants something! The challenge is figuring out what it is he wants when he does it (usually a treat or potty!).

Would love to see a better picture.

ya, Nezi sits and watches our other dog run around, or the kids playing. It's kinda funny cause I'll peek out the door to check on him, and there he is... sitting. lol.gif
Cupcake
Cakers dosent sit unless there is something in it for her!! In the kitchen she lays on the rug behind you. Or lays on her dog bed. Or clinbing DS climby thing in the back yard to see over the fence. She lets the cats in the neighborhood know shes there too. LOL. Shes a great watch dog-lmao "Hi stranger be my friend. Heres the TV and BluRay player. Can I have a cookie now?"
Daylily
Carson is not cooperating (not unusual!) and everytime I've tried to catch him "sittin' & watchin'" out in the yard, he sees me and comes running to me. (if he'd only be that good with his recall!) Anyway, with a little help I got pictures of both Carson and Greyson sitting. I had to put a frisbee on my head! lol.gif

Alf and Gracie's Mom
Gracie usually only sits when she is begging for some of my dinner. She much prefers to lie down or stand.

I think it is natural for sighthounds to observe movements outside (even airplanes up in the sky). They use their sight much more than other breeds who "see" more with their noses.
