We use greatlife food for turtle, who eats it without issue but only grazes. In an attempt to get him something we can use as an alternative when we need him to eat NOW and not later (some days he seems to forget to eat and ends up hungry at 1am) we got a bag of kruncheeros. It is basically a raw diet, dehydrated and thats it.

Put it in a bowl, added an equal amount of water and.. well I've never seen him go so crazy for eating anything. It was GONE in under a minute, compared to 15-20 minutes minimum to eat an equal amount of regular crunchies. Can't say more yet, we will see how his stomach deals with it tomorrow and I'll report if his love of the food continues.

Sounds great, maybe he is trying to tell you something? lol.gif

Mine love their raw food! smile.gif

Hah, maybe but honestly he is perfectly healthy with proper weight using the regular great life food. If raw food were MUCH cheaper it would definitely be the way to go, but unfortunately it is 3-4x the cost, bare minimum. I appreciate that it might be something he likes to eat more than the raw dehydrated kibble format, but he seems to do all right with that as well.

As an "eat now please" occasional meal though, it is perfect.

We feed Sojos in the orange bag, which sounds a lot like your kruncheeros!

For a 50lb dog, and a 30lb dog we use 1lb of meat and 2.5 cups of Sojos -- this lasts about 4 days.

We only buy the meat when it's on sale for $1.00 a pound or so, and then we stock up!
It only costs around $20.00 a month to feed our 2, MUCH less than the "Taste of the Wild" which was $43.00 every 4 - 5 weeks!

It's amazing how much better their health is! Especially their fur... soooooo soft!!! I love it!

Sounds like Turtle loves it, too! Glad he's enjoying it!

Diana, for the meat, do you use chuck/sirloin or is it something else and do you serve it cold from the fridge or allow it to warm up to room temperature?
My guys have been switched recently from Evo , which is great food but they were getting gassy and it does smell in the pantry, to Innova large bite and that has solved most of the gassy issues.

Hi,

I just use the ground chuck and just watch for it to go on sale.
I was using ground turkey, but found it didn't have enough fat in it! My whippie got a bit skinny hehe.
I have a large container (with a lid) that I mix the Sojos and meat, and store it in the fridge, but you could warm it up, if you wanted too.

When it's meal time, I use a measuring cup and scoop out their portions according to the recommendations on the back.
Occasionally I add some cottage cheese, duck neck, eggs, meat trimmings, or whatever veggies I happen to have in house at the time. smile.gif

I hear ya about the gas! fart.gif We were using the Taste of the Wild, and wowie, our guy could clear a room!
In addition to the Sojos meals, I add some digestion/probiotics powder, and that seems to help, too! hehe

I make up their Sojos and meat mixture every 4 days.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask! I'm still learning this stuff myself hehe.
