thanks for digging this out Kim, it serves as a reminder and I do remember
seeing this before, but raisins didn't stick in my head, avocado sure did though
because at the time I had just almost finished up a bag of dog good made with avocado and Gracie loved it and she got so shiny but I threw the rest away and
didn't buy anymore.

I haven't heard of avoiding avocado before. What's the reason?

some other research I did stated that avocado had something toxic, but I'm still
puzzled as to why there was dog food made with avocado, I think it was called avoderm but can't say for sure, I would recognize the bag though next time I'm at petsmart.

I just looked it up, it was called Avoderm

I fed Avoderm dog food to the last two smooth fox terriers that we had, and it did give my dogs a very shiny, thick coat, but they were gaining weight on it, so I took them off of it. Other than that, it seemed to be a good food, though. Maybe it has to be a certain amount of Avocado to be bad for them and Avoderm doesn't have that much in it?

bumping this up as a reminder, but was also wondering if celery was ok as I
haven't found it anywhere listed that its a bad food for dogs. A friend at work
was asking me if she could feed celery to her dog cause she really liked it.
She has a big fat cocker spanial and she put her on a green bean diet and
its working well, she's loosing the extra lbs.
p.s. I love cocker spanials

I don't think celery would be a problem. Just make sure there's no long strings in it. Smiley-wink.gif

Our dogs love celery. But they love most raw veggies.
